Why Is Windows Movie Maker Changing my Video Qulai

I have a brand new HD Camera-Bloggie Touch. And a brand new laptop that's all high quality and built to process even demanding games like that popular Star Wars internet game. I purposely got one like that so it could be ready to process and edit HD camera videos. When I first upload the videos to the comp, they look great. But after I save them as an HD movie file in Windows Live Movie Maker the quality is suddenly noticeably lower and the contrast seems significantly brighter. Why is the happening and how can I make it stop?? Please help!!!! Thank you so much for your time!!!
