My bios are sucking majorly right now. This might be edited when my muse decides to stop being a brat.
Name: Mercy Alice Bell
Nickname: N/A
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Birthday: 27th of Duober, year XXXVII [18 years]
Appearance:
Face Claim – Rachel Hurd-Wood
Mercy is notably slight and pretty. She lacks the seductive charm and fullness of a womanly beauty, but her youthful face and form are still quite pleasing. She is 5’3 and slender, though proportional and neither stick-like nor short-legged. From afar she has the appearance of a person younger than herself. Her hair is light dirty blonde and quite wavy; the smaller hairs around her face and at the nape of her neck tend to curl, which makes her hair easily frizzy and tangled. She often wears it up beneath a bonnet or in a single braid down her back. Afflicted with cataracts, Mercy’s light blue eyes have a cloudy appearance. Her pupils are not so dark as they should be, as if a thin white shroud has been pulled over them. Being partly blind, she tends to stare off seemingly into space or not meet the eyes of others when speaking to them.
Personality:
----Loving
Mercy has a big heart. She cares deeply for just about everyone in the village, and does her best to please everyone. She dislikes the thought of being a burden or a disappointment, and strives with every ounce of strength she has to avoid being as much. Despite her impairments she is a very talented caregiver, and is held in high esteem as once of the better nurses in the village. Mercy is generous, soft-spoken and altruistic, always gentle toward those who pay her kindness.
----Moody
She is the first to believe that everyone in the room thinks her a bother, and to fall into sulky silence about it. The littlest things or perceived insults can make her withdraw into closed-off curtness. Although she is hardly ever harsh or angry, she manifests her insecurity or displeasure through deep moodiness, passivity and lack of warmth.
----Needy
Mercy needs constant reassurance. Fights, financial difficulties, unpleasant opinions – all need to be withheld in her presence in order to keep her happy. Being insecure and too often over worried, she does not react well to disturbances of the peace.
----Sedulous
She is hard-working and industrious, always needing to do something of worth. If Mercy gets a project, she will very happily not eat or sleep until it is finished. When she accomplishes a worthy goal, the glow of it can stay with her for weeks.
Biography:
John and Olivia Bell celebrated (and mourned) the birth of their fourth daughter at the closing of chilly Duober in the year XXXVII. Although she was not a son and they had three healthy daughters as it was (and as yet but a single sturdy boy to help with the farm), they welcomed her presence. Her middle name was given to her in honour of her paternal grandmother, who had passed away only a week before. Not long passed before the little infant began developing cataracts, something the village most often saw exclusively in the quite elderly. Despite the efforts of the physician, the newborn Mercy was sickly and it was declared that she would shortly pass away.
The family was waiting for that day throughout the entirety of Mercy’s childhood. With every infection of the lungs, onset of chest pain, or bout of fatigue, the Bells prepared to order the coffin. It never came, though eventually it seemed that the child’s sight and hearing had ceased to decline. She remained prone to illness and quite small, often unable to help her mother and sisters in their duties. Her sisters, although quite fond of her, resented this. She was very early set apart from her family as the one with less value, for she was more often a burden than a help.
Although she was pretty, Mercy seldom received courtship. When she reached the age of sixteen and was considered of an age to enter into a contract of marriage, no offers came. As a precaution for spinster-ship, Olivia Bell began searching for a skill in her daughter that might benefit eventually as a profession. What she found was that Mercy was very good with young children and the elderly, as well as the newborn kittens of the village Guardians. Nurturing this skill, Olivia encouraged young Mercy to offer her services in giving care whenever the need arose in this or that family, so that she could build a positive reputation and range of experience.
For the most part, Mercy is commanded to stay indoors and to not strain herself. Even so, she adores the world beyond the farmhouse threshold and escapes to it whenever she can manage.
