11:58 Sunday 15th of October Year LVILily's dark feline form roamed down the dusty pathways of the market place. It was mid day and the people were wandering about, muttering to themselves about how prices had gone up and product has gone down. She couldn't understand why they wouldn't catch their own food, then they wouldn't have to rely on others to provide for them. Humans were still such a mystery to her.
One particular plump woman was bartering with a man for a chicken. Why barter when there were whole fields full of chickens you could catch for free? She'd done so herself and she'd never been happier. She supposed the whole "stealing" concept was limited in humans, however a feline could get away with what she wanted. Life was full of freedoms, beauty, and new things to discover!
Her eyes caught sight of someone intriguing and she instantly decided they were who she wanted to follow today. Observing their behavior from afar, she waited for the opportune moment to introduce herself with a friendly meow and a purr for attention.(OOC: Sorry for the shortness/awkwardness... Still new character for me and there's not much muse for myself right now. Hope this leaves it open for either a guardian or villager!) [Victoria: Changed to third person and added time stamp. I do like first person, but we're keeping it all third person for site uniformity. Oh, and... I love this character]

.Alastair.
The feast of Lammas was nearing and the nights had only just begun to lose the bluntness of summer air and acquire spare and splendid hints of a tart and robust fall breeze. Lammas. His thirty ninth Lammas. One of the ash grey tom cat's ears twitched in annoyance as he padded along the sunny streets of Benevolence. Thirty nine years of life did not make him a Council Elder...but it did make him one of the older cats in the village. Which meant that this Lammas he would likely be one of those venerated. While that might make many Guardians proud or pleased, mostly it irked the burly tom. He wasn't old nor did he want the attention. Frankly, it was attention he didn't feel he deserved. A Guardian of his age should be a canny defender by default, else they had no right to make it this far, was his personal opinion. When your life's work was to protect, there was no room for the weak. So being alive for thirty nine years was, in Alastair's eyes, part of the job description and nothing above and beyond the call of duty. He did not want to be recognized for it. He didn't deserve to be, not when every celebration of accomplishment, every turning of the season reminded him of someone who should have been there and who, because of him, was not...
It was market Sunday and almost noon, which meant most of the vendors would close up soon to avoid the heat of the day wilting precious produce. Still there were a few purchases being made. Elizabeth had decided to come to town today, to fetch some essentials for Elencastel and of course, where Elizabeth went, Alastair was duty bound to follow. Mr. Bray had permitted her the evening with her family and so for the time being (at least until dawn of the next morn) Alastair was free of his duties. As he made his way from shadow to shadow, preferring for the moment to stay away from the prying eyes of all and the grasping hands of toddlers the sound of a second feline's voice reached his ears. Young and feminine and vaguely familiar, he halted and glanced over his shoulder. The older Guardian's sharp eyes picked out the slender form of a blue eyed cat. Her thick black fur lent some softness to her otherwise lean form that he had seen a few times around the village. Mostly he kept to himself and tended to patrol either Elencastel as was his current duty or the other side of the village from where this young Guardian had been raised. She had a flower name, he remembered. Rose? Daisy? Poppy? Lily? Lily, that was it. Whether or not she remembered him, he didn't know. Not every Guardian made a point of learning every village cat's name and scent. Recognize him? Surely. He had a reputation. Know him? That he wasn't so sure of. He hadn't been planning on company today and his tail twitched at the thought of idle chatter. It wasn't something the big tom cat was fond of. But it never hurt to be civil. He paused so she could catch up if she wished and let a sending float out between them. +Bonny noon, Lily.+

__________________________ Cedric;
A soft, wheezy, if not almost pained exhale escaped a certain feline as the chaos that was the market still stirred below. Considering what the noise level could be like, it was evident that the crowds were beginning to thin, either due to the growing heat or simply because the ventures were starting to close shop for the afternoon. Whatever the reason, Cedric had found himself a quiet hiding place away from the busy if not borderline hugger-mugger mess of Benevolence's late morning market. Should anyone take the time to consider the fawn and white feline, they might have taken note of the peculiar fact that the usually busy tom appeared to be resting for once. Cedric... taking a break? How most peculiar. The young Guardian always seemed to have some place to go or something to do, apparently never having time to sit and catch his breath before moving onto his next 'job' of sorts. Not that he minded – Cedric liked to stay busy. But as late...
Well, for at least right now he needed just a short break. Maggie, as per usual self, was being quite a bit of a... nuisance. She had taken it upon herself to try and figure out if she should surprise their father and grandfather with a sort of gift for Lammas, which led Deven to interject that if she got then something she should get the rest of the older Guardian's something as well... Which resulted in another argument that Cedric was forcing himself not to even dwell on at this point in time. The aching feeling in his temples was only just subsiding when a sound separate from the din of the marketplace caught his attention.
Eyelids lifting, Cedric's ears swiveled towards the source, blinking when they landed on two shapes in the streets below. It took him a moment to register who the two feline's were, and it was only when it finally flicked did his eyes widen even more. Hm, Alastair? Wasn't he guarding one of the Bell girl's that had recently starting working for that odd man in Elencastel? He hadn't heard the entire story, but he'd gotten enough out of his father's explanation to understand the gray furred Guardian was not going to be around town as often as he usually was. Which was a pity in a sense – since Cedric appreciated and respected the older Guardian's experience and knowledge. Still, at least he was putting his skills to good use. While Cedric... Cedric was having problems simply keeping up with his siblings.
Quite the Guardian indeed.
Cedric tore his gaze away from the two for a moment, suddenly feeling a bit flustered when he realized all his attention was being poured into such a small dilemma while it should be focused towards more dire areas of concern. Shaking his head, the bi-colored cat rose to his paws and proceeded to make his way down from his position on the roof. Making quick use of a stack of near by crates, Cedric kneaded the soft dirt road as the sudden change of texture as he finally came back into contact with solid earth. Slowly, he peered around the side of the building, finding that he was only a little ways ahead of Lily and Alastair on the side of the road. Seating himself, Cedric gave a yawn and a flick of his ears before sending out an open message towards the two, reaching out to the pair of Guardian's like a gentle brush against their minds – alerting them to his presence. Though they probably just as easily could have spotted or sense him before, it certainly just felt rude not to formally let them know he was there.
:: … Good day, Alastair, Lily. ::
OOC| Hope you guys don't mind me joining. xD I'm sorry ahead of time if I've made any spelling mistakes - I'll be sure to recheck it again in the morning!

Lily felt the presence of others and the soft purr of a greeting made her turn. Black pelt shimmering in the sunlight it faded momentarily as a cloud glazed across the sky leisurely. Her height was great being a Main Coon although the dust grey pelt of Alastair kept level with her own. Her vivid blue-green eyes gazed past Alastair to focus on another guardian making his way toward the pair. Momentarily she was confused, however sighting Cedric she purred a greeting to both.
Fair noon Alastair and Cedric
She looked sideways momentarily, debating on whether or not she'd prefer to follow the human she had been making her way toward previously or if she'd prefer the company of the two. She had heard of Alastair, though never sought out his company. Her time was occupied among other things and she rarely found herself concerned with the hub-bub of the town. She had heard wind that something was on it's way, Lammas mayhap? Regardless it did not interest her.
Nights had been getting chillier faster when the sun set, and the air had proven refreshing to the black-pelted feline. Although she dawned her human form more often than not when the sun sank low, she preferred the chill on her skin to the heat-soaking days with her hematite fur. Standing in shadow, Lily was relieved for the time being from her pelt being too warm from the high noon orb and instead was only slightly so. The soft breeze that had picked up had helped remarkably.
What brings the two of you to the bustle of the market?
Her decision made, she'd find a different human to observe at another time. For now she was intrigued to learn of the reputation Alastair had earned from the other guardians. Having kept mostly to herself for the twenty-two years she lived, Lily had few to no friends although all guardians were friendly she found herself isolated to her research. One that had spread rumor throughout the others but never a truth. For now it was mutterings and guesses, although none truly matching what she was really up to. That, she preferred to keep to herself until she was further prepared.
Clouds continued to roll in from the East, though none dark the towering cumulus threatened to make the once hot afternoon covered in shade. Lily ignored the skies for now, keeping her piercing gaze on Alastair, though moving between him and Cedric so as not to make him think he was unwelcomed in the conversation. On the contrary Lily knew next to nothing about Cedric and the prospect of learning was valuable to her. Where uncertainty lay, so also did enlightenment.
Settling her haunches into a sit, her ears flicked at the sound of people shuffling along on the dirt behind her. Although the three cats had stopped near the edge of the market road, that was not to say Lily was free from any accidental kicks or feet. Therefore although looking relaxed she casually listened behind her every once in awhile to ensure her own safety.
.:.OOC.:. Sorry for the incredibly long delay. My internet was out the entire time. Hopefully I'll be able to get on more often from here on out!
