Take two! xD
Player’s Name: Pen
Roleplay Experience: Five or six years
Name: Maddock
Nickname/s: None. Doesn’t like 'em.
Species: Gewyn
Gender: Male
Age: Twentieth of Duodecimber – Twenty five years old
Play By: Andrei Andrei / black wolves
Appearance:
as a wolf
As a wolf Maddock is built more for strength then anything else. His bulky body is covered with jet black fur with the occasional copper coloring underneath. He has not come out unscathed throughout his less then easy-going lifestyle and has quite a collection of scars over his body. Some are more visible through his thick fur – namely one across the front of his left leg. It starts around dewclaw and trails up his leg to stop right before his elbow. It is noticeable in both of his forms, though it’s more prominent against his black fur when a wolf.
as a human
Standing at around six foot five, Maddock is certainly among the taller male Gewin that inhabit the forest. His human body mirrors his canine form – large and sturdy. He has a large chest and arms but a smaller torso and legs. His high cheek bones and angular facial structure is rounded off just so along the edges and has thick eyebrows that sometimes shadow his eyes. Like any Gewin, Maddok’s skin is pale, and smaller scars that were once hidden under his fur are now easily visible. Maddock’s dark hair stops a few inches above his shoulders and every so often he’ll keep a bit of stubble on his chin and jaw line. Regardless of either form, Maddock’s eyes are always pale yellow.
Personality:
Maddock is probably best known for his tenacity and determination. Once he puts his mind to something you’ll have a serious challenge on your hands if you want to change it. The results can be quite the opposite when Maddock’s the one changing minds however. He is surprisingly adept at persuading others and can make you think twice about something you thought you had figured out.
He’s been putting this ability to work a lot more often these days, whispering plans and vision of a Guardian free world to any Gewyn he may pass. He has become set on the idea of annihilating the Guardians but to do so would require the Gewin to come together and declare war – something that goes against normal Gewin nature. The idea of putting aside tradition for a common cause doesn’t entirely make Maddock comfortable, but he’s willing to put it aside if it means getting rid of the Guardian’s for good. An ambition that is likely to be turned down by many, but one that he’s willing to spread.
Patience has never been one of Maddock’s brighter points and he has been known to sudden bursts of rage and violence should something not go right. His means of venting can range from clawing up a tree to a good smack in the face. It can vary on the situation. Maddock isn’t a forgiving soul either, so if you’ve ruined his trust then it’s likely you’ll never get it back. Always be wary when he says ‘I forgive you’, since he never truly means it. At best he’s only says that when he still finds the person useful for something. So if you ever double crossed Maddock… well, let’s just hope you keep yourself useful.
Somewhere beneath his rough exterior Maddock has a soft side. Somewhere. Probably the ‘softest’ you’ll ever see him be is when he’s off on his own, staring off into the distance. During these quiet moments he ponders and visualizes. They can range from being about a subject currently at hand or not much about anything. It’s his time to think things over, weigh options and steady himself before moving on. Maddock’s never been one to reach his heart out to anything or anyone else, but he can come to respect someone and treat them as his equal. That’s probably the kindest way he could treat somebody.
Biography:
Born to the Gewin pair Lucia and Aric, the small family consisted only of themselves and one or two female offspring. Constant threats from harsh weather, famine and even their own kind kept the pair on their toes and it was because of these dangers they lost more then one child. The two Gewin were able to successfully raise a small handful of children however - Maddock being one of the few.
His childhood was the same as anyone else’s that was born to live out in the wild; challenging and constantly changing. He overcame obstacles his past siblings had succumbed to and when the time came for him to go off on his own, he did so without taking a look back. Maddock had never been close to any of his family members and leaving them was not a difficult task. He wandered for a time, exploring the forest and crossing paths with its other Gewin inhabitants – many encounters not ending well for either parties. Nonetheless he came to stake out his own turf. One that just so happened to be quite close to the village of Benevolence…
As a pup Maddock’s parents told him stories about the near by village, the myth behind their coming into being and the horror’s their own family had faced when they pushed the boundaries of the forest in search of the only thing that could satiate their hunger; humans. There was something about humans that quelled their odd hunger pangs far more then a deer or rabbit could ever do. Their flesh, blood and even their very soul was able to ease a Gewyn’s monthly aching stomach. Many of Gewin sought out these creatures, Maddock’s parents admitting to have done so too, but many did not anticipate that the humans would be guarded.
By what exactly Maddock did not entirely understand at first. His parents told him the humans were watched over by cats – Guardians they were called. But not just any cats. Transforming beasts, like the Gewin in a way. The comparison was disgusting but it was the only way Maddock could make sense of them. His parents went on to tell him of the ways his brethren had fallen to the claws of these creatures and how the Guardians kept the Gewin at bay whenever hunger befell them.
Now older, Maddock was able to go see these so called ‘beasts’ for himself and – like any inexperienced Gewyn – was met with a brutal retaliation and was quickly chased away. Maddock was furious. How dare they chase him away? He had not been out for blood, not out to feed on the creatures these Guardians protected. Ridiculed, Maddock vented his anger by pushing the boundaries even more, taunting these small creatures by stalking the edges of the woods. He let conscious mind break free of his body so that he slip silently past their defenses to watch their routines and lifestyle. He then trained, testing his abilities on anyone that so happened to challenge him.
With his strength growing, Maddock has come to realize that facing the Guardians alone would be a death wish. Against his Gewin tradition, he has begun to seek out their company, spreading the notion that if they wish to rid themselves of the feline beings they shall have to band together. He currently wanders the forest, searching for any Gewin that might happen to have… food on the brain.
